We were fortunate enough to be involved in the renovation of RBS’s flagship branch in St Andrews Square, Edinburgh. The 1770’s building is called Dundas House and is one of Edinburgh’s most significant buildings in the Old Town, and a testament to the city’s vibrant architecture.

The site was originally intended for a church, to be named St. Andrews, but the proprietor decided the location would better suit a prestigious mansion.

The house was built with a robust pale grey sandstone from Ravelstone Quarry which was around three miles to the west. It was designed by Sir William Chambers who was a prominent architect of the day.

We provided three different types of limestone for the banks grand refurbishment. Part of the original Victorian encaustic flooring has been kept to remind customers of the buildings.
